In today's world, it is of pressing importance that tomorrow's leaders have a global perspective. Taking this realization to heart, The Global Institute for Leadership and Civic Development in conjunction with the President's Leadership Class and the Transformative Action Institute is proud to announce the second annual Global Leadership Program, Boulder (GLP Boulder). The 2008 program (called GLI Boulder) marked the first North American campus of the Global Institute for Leadership and Civic Development. GLP Boulder is held each summer at the beautiful University of Colorado at Boulder campus.

Dedicated to making the theoretical real, the participants of GLP Boulder will obtain high quality leadership and civic development training in an international setting. In addition, participants will not only learn about foreign cultures but they will communicate, live, study with and learn from international students with diverse perspectives, beliefs, cultures, and upbringings. Academics

GLP Boulder fosters an academically rigorous environment while simultaneously promoting true cultural immersion. It provides a comprehensive and interactive program in which international scholars cultivate their leadership and communication skills both inside and outside of the classroom.

GLP Boulder offers two mandatory classes focused on leadership, international relations, project development, and transformational action.

PRLC 3810 Global Issues in Leadership: Examines the challenges to leadership posed by major global issues. Problems in the areas of human rights, hunger, disease, large-scale collective violence, and environmental deterioration are explored with a special emphasis on the development of effective, long-term leadership strategies.

PRLC 4010 21st Century Leadership/Capstone Course: Teaches the students how to transform their passions into progressive world change. This class will focus on the principles of Transformative Action, as well as providing the necessary skills for scholars to make their dreams a reality.

This course is offered by the Division of Continuing Education as part of the Statewide Extended Studies Program. GLP Boulder is a fully accredited institute at the University of Colorado, Boulder. All students who complete the program will receive 7 upper division credits from the University and an official transcript.

Classes will be held for four hours daily, with a break for lunch. Along with traditional classroom lecture, classes will consist of small group recitations, field trips, and presentations from local leaders and the students themselves.
